There are many Magnesium formulations available in the market, however, it is useful to know its origin, formulation and pharmaceutical form. Among the varieties of Magnesium we find chelates or products in the form of Carbonates, Oxide, Sulfate, Citrate, among others. In addition, there are Aminochelates that are the union of the mineral with an amino acid, these chelates have excellent bioavailability.
Bioavailability is the amount of Magnesium that the body assimilates and exerts the desired effect.
For a magnesium-based food supplement to perform its function, it must:
- Comply with the declared amount of Magnesium.
- Its formulation should have a high bioavailability (Aminochelate).
- It must be well absorbed by the intestine.
- Easy to swallow (Soft capsules)
It is recommended to take 200 mg of Magnesium per day, preferably before going to sleep, as long as it is highly bioavailable through supplements in tablets or capsules and by consuming foods rich in Magnesium.
